My Daily Face/Skincare Routine

Hello friends!!

Today i’m super excited, because i think i’ve finally perfected a routine that has produced the greatest results for my face!

As i’ve said before, i have combination skin and my main struggles are my chin and t-zone. I repeat this routine, almost exactly, every morning (before/if i put makeup on) and every night (after i take it off).

First, I start with an oil cleanse. Because i got my tax return, i finally ordered Banilla Co’s Clean-It Zero: Purity, but it won’t be in until next month :/ Right now, I’m just using

1. Unrefined Coconut Oil (Wegmans- Organic brand)

Wegmans stores, Buffalo NY. $7.99

It’s super creamy and it melts on your skin πŸ™‚ I use a cotton pad to get my makeup off my eyes (it dissolves smoothly even waterproof mascara) and all over my face.
Now, i know i was super freaked out at the idea of putting oil on my already messed-up skin, but how it works is, when it’s used before a foaming cleanser, it cleans oil-based blemishes and dirt without stripping your skin dry πŸ™‚ it’s super awesome!
While it does have a bit of a coconutty smell, I’ve also used refined oil which doesn’t smell as strong, but it has a tendency to get hard and flakey and doesn’t work nearly as well. Go unrefined. Is your face smelling a bit like a tropical island for a few minutes really the worst thing that could happen to you? πŸ˜›

2. Vanicream Cleansing BarΒ

Walgreens – $3.99

So i’m not sure if this is actual “soap” but its designed for sensitive skin and leaves mine feeling super light and clean! I foam it up and make sure it gets all the coconut oil off my hands and face.

3. Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash – Pink Grapefruit CleanserΒ

Walmart – $6.96

i smear this right on just my chin and nose usually; no need to do it anywhere else. it starts as a gel, but foams eventually.
Water temperature is usually lukewarm to very warm (not hot).

4. Stridex Sensitive Alcohol-Free With Aloe Pads

Walmart – $3.97

Stridex Daily Care Alcohol-Free Sensitive with Aloe Pads, 90 count

The pads come in a can and are a little smaller than the palm of my hand. Because i -again- only use it on the spots i need it and not my whole face, i usually cut each pad into quarters and it makes them last even longer! πŸ™‚ Sometimes i only use these once a day instead of two, because even tho they’re marked ‘sensitive’, my skin will dry out if i’m not careful.

5. Witch Hazel

Walmart – $3.64
T.N. Dickinson's Face & Body Witch Hazel Astringent, 16 fl oz
This stuff is a great toner and it just smooths everything out really well, without being too harsh! It comes in a huge bottle and i usually put a little bit on a cotton pad, all over my face.

*These next two steps are interchangeable in order; I’m pretty sure i do it differently every time hahah*

Vanicream Lite Lotion

Walgreens – $13.99

Although compared to the rest of my products, this one’s a little hefty in price, don’t skimp on it. Moisturizing is SO important, and it’s honestly not bad for a 16oz bottle. I start to gently massage it on my face before the witch hazel absorbs/evaporates. Moisturizer basically works as Saran Wrap for your skin, so if you want to keep it soft, it’s best to try to trap the moisture as close to your skin as possible.

Yadah Anti-Trouble Spot Cream – Soothing $13.00 (on sale for $10.00)

photo 2 (2)

I love this stuff so much!! I’m allergic to Benzoyl Peroxide and can only take salicylic acid in small amounts. The active ingredient in this cream is wintergreen extract and it soothes inflamed skin while also helping decrease acne! πŸ™‚
Again, a hefty item, price-wise, and it gets even more expensive when doesn’t have it on sale, or at all. But the 15 grams lasts a while, and you don’t need all that much πŸ™‚

That about does it! πŸ™‚ If i’m getting ready for the day, i top it all off with some BareMinerals Foundation and Mineral Veil (but that’s for another blog post). If i’m headed to bed (like i am right now haha) i’ll schmear some Vasaline on my lips and be on my way. πŸ™‚

Burt’s Bees Facial Cleansing Towelettes – SensitiveΒ

Wegmans – $5.99

For a busy morning/evening clean where i really am on a crunch for time, these are amazing! I usually will put some moisturizer on afterwords, and if i’m out the door, makeup, and be on my way! ^_^

That’s it! This is something i’ve been working on for almost a year, and i’m really proud to have finally found something that works well for me and hopefully others with sensitive skin! πŸ™‚

Hit me up if you need any info about ingredients or have any questions! ^_^ Everything is mineral oil and benzoyl peroixide- free.

VaniCream Cleansing Bar and Lite Lotion Review

When i was about 13 or 14, i developed a circular, scaling rash on the right side of my face, below my cheekbone.
Young teenage me was tired of looking “gross” and nothing seemed to be working to clear my acne or keep me from getting rashes, so my mum took me to a dermatologist.

She gave me samples of this soap and lotion to try and see if anything improved.

Let me tell you…the results were astronomical. My skin felt like a baby’s butt, and i wore nothing but mascara and eyeliner for weeks and got nothing but compliments on how great my skin looked!

When i was away at college, just like any kid, i figured i knew everything and i met alot more people and i eventually chose to try a bunch of new things and stopped with this regular, tried-and-true routine…what on earth was i thinking… X’D

I was concerned about the cost because “Dermatologist Recommended” usually doesn’t come cheap! But i did some homework, and went to the Walgreens about 10 minutes from my work and picked up BOTH of these for a total of $20 USD! (and there’s A LOT; a full-sized soap bar and 16 oz pump bottle of lotion; they look exactly like the pictures!) They contain no dyes, lanolin, parabens, fragrances…honestly i have no clue what it is, but it works!

By the time i got them most recently, i hadn’t used these products in over a year, and my face was rebelling. I kid you not; i saw improvement after one use! ^_^ i now wash my face once a day (twice just isn’t necessary unless i’m out and about all day or feeling especially sweaty/dirty or just excess sebum and irritation) and i’m still seeing drastic improvement each day!!
I’m paying for not taking care of my skin like i should have for over a year, but let me tell you, this made it alot easier and fits the cheapskate budget! All in all, aΒ 10/10,Β every day!

One word of caution: They have a “moisturizing lotion” and a “lite lotion”. I have used both, and i personally recommend the LITE lotion for sensitive/oily skin. The regular moisturizing lotion is far heavier and has a tendency to feel greasy if you already have oily skin as it is. Just go lite; it’s safer πŸ˜› It may be a TEENSY more expensive, but it’s negligible. πŸ™‚

Well, those are my reviews for today! πŸ˜€ Keep being beautiful, loves, and i will definitely be giving more reviews as i go thru my latest order, one mask per week! ^_^

Have you used any of the reviewed products or have any questions about them or ingredients i’ve sworn off of and why? Fire away! ^_^

TonyMoly Tomatox Magic Mask Pack Review

Dudes. I can’t even begin to explain to you how awesome this stuff is.

Good, now that i got you hooked… X’D

But seriously. I got a little envelope of this as a sample with my most recent order from MEMEBOX and i kinda pulled it out the other day and did some homework on it to make sure it wasn’t going to be too harsh for sensitive skin or have anything weird (mineral oil, certain parabens, the like…) and i found out it has 5 stars on multiple websites and was one of TonyMoly’s hottest-selling items in 2011.
I can definitely see why. ^_^

photo 1 (4)

This is me, in all my sleepy, Sunday-night, netflix-binging glory…Feast your eyes. X’D Or don’t…

Okay, so it’s a white, light cream that you massage all over your face, (it can be dry or damp; doesn’t much matter πŸ™‚ )
And then you leave it on for about 5-10 minutes and then wash it off (it does leave white residue as it dries, as you can see)

But seriously, it makes your skin feel so amazing, and it’s been essential to clearing up my face!! Overall I’d give this aΒ 10/10! Truly an amazing product!
I will probably be buying it off Amazon because even with TonyMoly’s 20% off coupon, it still rounds out at about $14-$15 USD for an 80g package on MEMEBOX…which is alot of product, for sure, but when i can find it cheaper?? Gotta go the cheapskate route πŸ˜›
I’m so pumped; definitely on my list for next time! This is the second day i’ve used it in a row because my face is under major rehab recently, because i finally found a soap that’s helping clear up my awful acne!

Which brings me to my next review…Stay tuned!

Black Aqua Pore-Scaling Mask – Review

Hey guys!!
First of all, i was super pumped for this mask because i’ve finally started to find some products to reduce my acne, exponentially, so i can start to enjoy the fuller benefits of HEALTHY skin, not just “preventative” skin!

This mask was $2.75 USD and that was honestly a little steep for a mask, for me anyway, because i’m a cheapskate X’D

photo 2 (4)

(yes. That is my bathroom floor πŸ˜› at least it’s clean, yah?) X’D

It’s a cotton mask that has a ton of essence in it; plenty to rub in afterwords too! and it’s jet-black, so that was cool, for something different πŸ™‚
Now, Obviously you want to wash your face before putting on any kind of mask so the absorbency is optimal. πŸ™‚

For pros and cons…
(I will start by saying that i had this on while i was in a hot bath so my pores were especially open in the steam.)

Pros –
-Definitely saw improvement in my chin and t-zone, as far as oil and sebum build-up!
-It doesn’t smell bad…or like anything at all for that matter.

Cons –

-I only had this on for about 3-5 minutes before i realized i had to pull the eye openings farther below my eyes, because the delicate skin under my eyes was starting to burn.

SO, all in all, i would definitely say it’s a steep price for not doing a WHOLE ton on it’s own (I’ve also been using a new face wash for a few days previously so i could chalk some of the results up to that as well) but it definitely didn’t DAMAGE the situation…I would caution those with dry or sensitive skin, like myself, tho, because in addition to it stinging (but not noticeably harming) underneath my eyes, it did leave my face quite flushed for a bit afterwords (no pain tho).

If i HAD to put a number on it (and i’m not good with numbers; never have been… πŸ˜› ) i’d probably give this aΒ 6/10. I bought two so i will definitely be trying the second one after continuing to put my face thru some extensive therapy to completely heal my previously awful acne!

Stick around, because, at the risk of spoiling my next two reviews, Β the next two products come highly recommended! πŸ˜‰ Order #3 ^_^

photo 1 (2)

The day has arrived…I’ve been waiting since the 7th for this box!! πŸ˜€
I just have to brag on this company so much right now…they are just wonderful!!
I usually place my orders on late Thursday night and receive them on Tuesday night. I was super disappointed that i didn’t get it last night, but i checked the mail the next day around noon and it was there! πŸ˜€ and let me tell you, it was well worth the wait!

First, I ordered 9 masks and a blemish cream.

photo 3 (2)

Most of them are re-orders; there’s 5 total here πŸ™‚ I have acne and sebum trouble with my chin and t-zone so i love the teatree one!! Now that i switched to VaniCream soap and lotion, most of my acne has cleared (i’ll do a review on that in the future, as well!) and i just have residual dark spots and scarring from previous spots :/ so i’m super excited for the illuminating one, that, tho i’ve used before, it didn’t really accomplish it’s intended purpose because my acne was so bad. :/ i hope it will improve them!
The snail bee one is just amazing. If you ever want to choose and just try ONE mask, you should get this one. It’s $2, which is cheap for snail excretion and bee venom, it fits my face just fine, and it’s loaded with essence! It can make your skin kinda sticky afterwords, but oh my gosh, my skin feels like new afterwords!!

photo 1 (3)photo 2 (2)

These are new purchases, specifically for my remaining acne in hopes that i can clear it up a bit! The cream was actually a little smaller than i expected it to be, for $10, but it’s not one of those things you’ll need to use alot of…I’ve heard nothing but good things tho about it, so i’m hoping it will be worth it!

photo 2 (3)

Best part???
I do want to say that from both and, i’ve gotten free stuff! but this is the most free stuff i’ve ever gotten at once before!! These aren’t on the receipt and there’s no mention of them; they’re just in the box with my stuff ^_^ the TONYMOLY tomato is a sample size, but there is a FULL-SIZED, EXTRA mask stuck in my box! πŸ˜€ that’s at least $1-2 worth of free mask!! πŸ˜€ i was so pumped…

photo (8)

As always, the staff are super personal, and super cute! ❀ My full name was also typed in 22-point font at the top of the receipt as well, with some cute little drawings. ^_^
I’ve just never had a bad experience with them! πŸ™‚
I always buy just $30 worth, because then i get free shipping from them. ^_^ ( requires $50 :/ that’s the ONLY reason i don’t buy from them more frequently because they have great stuff as well!!)

photo 4 (1)

SO, yeah! πŸ˜€ i’m so pumped, and i just had to brag on them for a bit, because they’re just amazing, and i’m always so excited to order and receive from them! πŸ˜€ It just goes to show that a little extra presentation, personalization, and just being great is worth it! ❀ i’d recommend them to anyone πŸ™‚

…Now, to go take a bath and try one of these out! ^_^

All-Natural Skincare Things I Can Personally Vouch For

Riiighty-Oh. πŸ™‚
So today i went thru and realized that my face is so sensitive that most of the things i use aren’t actually specifically for your face. But, hey, guess, what? They work awesomely πŸ™‚
Just as a refresher; i’m a K-Beauty/Skincare enthusiast and also as broke as the day is long. I have extremely sensitive combination skin, and my acne spots are my chin and t-zone.

#1 – Shea Butter Soap for Additives
photo 1 (1)
his is completely raw shea butter soap, with no fragrances, additives or anything else besides SOAP. And shea butter. I melt it and this time around threw in some coconut oil, vegetable glycerin and tea tree oil before i put it in the mold πŸ™‚ It doesn’t foam much, because the additive that causes soap to foam can sometimes be not-good for sensitive skin. Good for face and hands. πŸ™‚ Hobby Lobby sells it in a huge block that makes probably 12 normal-sized bars of soap for $10.99. (It also goes on sale for 30% off…check the website out; ^_^ ) #promotion!

#2 – Organic Coconut Oil

photo 1

Ideally, unrefined coconut oil is your best bet. But, because i’m cheap, and the unrefined kind is about $5 more, i opted for the refined organic kind. But, hey, if you can afford the unrefined, it’s really the way to go. πŸ™‚ I use this all over my body instead of any other kind of moisturizer and Marth constantly comments on how soft my skin is ^_^ It’s a cream-like or solid consistency below 73 degrees, but it will be liquid at anything above that…I’ve tried keeping it in the fridge but that just makes it a brick so i wouldn’t recommend that either…Cool, dry place away from sunlight is good. πŸ™‚ $8.56 at Wegmans, but you should be able to find coconut oil in the cooking oil section of any grocery store or walmart πŸ™‚

#3 Vegetable Glycerin
photo 2
I also got this at Hobby Lobby…its a big thing in skincare and face products! Honestly, i’m not quite sure what it is or exactly why it does what it does…but it’s a vegetable product that’s a skin protectent, has a thick liquid consistency and an almost sweet taste (but don’t eat it.) I use it when i take off nail polish, i paint the raw glycerin straight on my nails. I’m telling you, it’s a miracle thing. I’ve struggled with paper-thin nails and a nail-biting habit most of my life, but after doing this once a day for three days, my nails not only got harder, but grew a TON! I wish i had before/after pictures for you… I keep 1 part glycerin and 10 parts filtered water in a 2oz condiment cup in my bathroom and put it on my face with a cotton puff two times a day. πŸ™‚
One warning about glycerin tho. What i DO know it does is that it absorbs the water in the air, so thats why it’s so good for hydrating your skin and nails. But don’t overdo it or you’ll basically look like you’ve been in a bath or a pool for too long. The only things i would use straight glycerin for are my nails, no more than once a day, and my lips, no more than twice a day. (it does wonders for dry lips too!!)
$3.99 at Hobby Lobby for a decent-sized bottle, in the soap-making part of the Crafts Department. πŸ™‚ My mom says it’s also at Walmart, but i’ve never been able to find it… Probably near the bandaids??

#4 Tea Tree Essential Oil
photo 3
When i was working camp in the summer of 2013, alot of the Asian girls on staff used tea tree oil and tea tree oil-based products. It has a very strong, almost “bite” of a smell to it, and alot of the American girls complained about it, which ticked me off. I mean, jeez, there’s no need to make people feel bad about their health and beauty or their food, especially when it OBVIOUSLY works way better than ours! But, anyhow. Because it’s so strong, i would NOT recommend putting straight tea tree oil on your skin. i dilute it the same as the glycerin; 1 to 2 parts tea tree oil to 10 parts filtered water, and keep it in a condiment cup. It’s good for drying up acne spots, so if you really want to, you can make a more concentrated bit and just spot-treat with it. πŸ™‚ This was $6.99 at Hobby Lobby in – you guessed it!- the soap-making department. It only comes out a drop at a time, so the tiny bottle i have has lasted me over 2 months already and it’s not even half gone. πŸ™‚

#5 Raw Honey

photo 4Β

Now, raw honey is your best option. Alot of things say “pure clover honey”, but they’re really mostly water. The packets you get at Starbucks and the plastic bears are not a good choice, even tho they are cheaper. Honey has natural anti-bacterial purposes and it helps bring down the red, irritated look which make it SUPER good for an acne-troubled face. I pour a little in the lid, and spread it all over my chin and t-zone, sometimes even my whole face if i’m getting in the shower later or have time to get messy, and let it sit for at least 10 minutes.
Best bet for purchasing?? Hit up your local Farmer’s Market. I know exactly where Alden NY is, and i got this for $4.95 at a tiny little general store and deli about 10 minutes from my house πŸ™‚

Cool!! So now you know the 5 natural things i use on my face, combined with my MISSHA pore-correcting toner, TONYMOLY snail moisturizing gel, EVERYONE face/hands/body lotion, Β and STRIDEX Sensitive skin acne pads (bonus broke kid’s tip for making stuff like that last?? Cut it into quarters. Seriously. Those are almost as big as the palm of my hand. I don’t need that to rub down my chin and t-zone real quick. it’ll make a can with 50 pads last 2 months, using twice a day). ^_^

Today’s find while i was at -you guessed it again- Kate’s Country Cousins Farmer’s Market, was this soap. It has Brazilian clay and charcoal powder in it, both of which are awesome for removing impurities, and it’s goat’s milk-based, which makes your skin super soft!! i’ve only used it once, but the redness on my chin is less irritated already, and my cheekbone area is super soft!
$5.00 and a great conversation with a small-business owner πŸ™‚Β photo 2 (1)

Alrighty kiddos πŸ™‚ I’m typing this up on Marth’s desktop computer Β while he plays Destiny on the X-Box πŸ™‚ We look like a cute little gaming couple; the desks are right next to eachother and i have his headset on, listening to twenty-one pilots so i don’t disturb him…we break for kisses everyonce in a while tho ^_^
I’ll post a song later, and i hope you all have a fabulous night! πŸ™‚
Peace Out – Meyla ❀

Memebox. com – First Purchases!!

They finally came!!

photo 1 (1)

I got four face masks, blackhead patches/stickers, snail gel, and bunny lip gloss!! πŸ˜€
I tried the first of the blackhead stickers yesterday…

photo 2 (1) photo 3 (1)

While i honestly am not sure i have a ton of blackheads or not, it didn’t seem to do much the first time around. I actually have another one on my face now to see if it does any more…it did seem to bring some to the surface, and definitely got some from the corners of my nose! I’m trying it again tonight and seeing if it does anything else… It was $6.55 for 10 patches, so pretty good πŸ™‚

Today, i tried this acai berry mask from Etude House and it honestly was super great…its just for whitening and moisturizing and that’s definitely what it did! πŸ™‚ It wasn’t very expensive either πŸ™‚

photo 4

My self-confidence isn’t quite enough to put a picture of me with it on my face yet haha, but someday i promise!! ^_^

UPDATE – Using the blackhead sticker the 2nd time around produced at least 50% improvement from the time before!! make sure you wash your face with an oil-based soap and lukewarm water, and then foaming soap with warm water first!!!
